The Varroa EasyCheck is a simple and accurate tool for testing honey bee colonies for varroa mites using an alcohol wash method. It allows beekeepers to quickly assess mite levels and make informed management decisions right in the bee yard.
The Varroa EasyCheck is designed to give beekeepers a fast and dependable way to monitor varroa mite levels in their colonies. Using a small sample of young bees, the device allows you to perform an alcohol wash, one of the most accurate methods for detecting mite infestations.
To use, bees are collected from the hive and placed into the container with rubbing alcohol or windshield washer fluid. The unit is shaken, dislodging mites from the bees. The mites then pass through the strainer basket into the clear reservoir below, where they can be easily counted.
The strainer basket includes built-in measurement lines for 200 or 300 bees, helping standardize testing and improve accuracy. The tight-fitting threaded lid prevents leaks during shaking, and the transparent container makes counting mites simple.
After each test, the liquid can be filtered and reused, making the process more efficient when testing multiple hives.
With quick results available directly in the apiary, beekeepers can make informed decisions about whether to treat their colonies, helping maintain healthy bees and optimize honey production or nucleus hive success.
